Starke County Young Professionals Hope to Match Volunteers with Community Needs

Members of the Starke County Young Professionals group have been busy introducing themselves to community leaders recently. Representatives attended this week’s Knox City Council and Hamlet Town Council meetings.

They say their goal is to identify needs in the local communities and match them with resources and volunteers. For example, Starke-Pulaski Habitat for Humanity wanted its logo on its trailer, so last week Starke County Young Professionals organized volunteers to paint it. They’re also in the process of coordinating movie in the park events in North Judson and Hamlet.

Ultimately, the group hopes to be able to jump-start various community projects and encourage others to get involved and see them to completion. At this point, Starke County Young Professionals is not yet registered as a nonprofit organization, but is just an informal group of individuals.
