Two Injured in LaPorte County Crash

Two people were injured after a crash in LaPorte County Wednesday morning. Deputies from the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office were called to the intersection of U.S. 20 and Fail Road around 5:45 a.m.

Officers believe a Ford Fusion heading east on U.S. 20 disregarded the traffic signal at Fail Road and hit a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo was that was traveling north on Fail Road. The driver of the Ford, Anesah Brazier, 19, of South Bend, was taken to LaPorte Hospital with a possible broken wrist. The other driver, Luis Anguiano, 27, of LaPorte was flown by helicopter to Memorial Hospital in South Bend, with injuries to his hip and head.

Brazier’s passenger, Marcel Omar Singleton, 32, was uninjured and walked away from the scene. But deputies later learned that he was wanted in St. Joseph County on a misdemeanor warrant, and Singleton was turned over to the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department.

Brazier was cited for disregarding a traffic signal. Traffic on U.S. 20 was restricted for about an hour, following the crash. LaPorte County Emergency Medical Service and the Kankakee Township Fire Department also responded.
