The City of Knox is set to kick off the summer season with a full Saturday of activities. Mayor Dennis Estok says registration begins at 2 p.m. for the annual car show, which will get under way at 3 in Wythogan Park. Awards will be presented at 6:30 p.m., and the cruise wil immediately follow.
Estok says cars and motorcycles will go down Main Street, pass the two nursing homes, back up U.S. 35 and down by the park a couple of times.
City officials will also dedicate the new performance stage in Wythogan Park Saturday afternoon with a 2:30 p.m. ribbon cutting. It will be followed by a free concert in the park sponsored by the city. Jim Pulse will start the entertainment at 3 p.m. and will play until 5 or 5:30. After that Estok says Half Track will take the stage and play until whenever.
A few rows of bleachers will be set up in the park, but Estok encourages patrons to bring lawn chairs.
