Former Clerk-Treasurer Arrested

Patricia Arnett

The La Porte County Warrant Division and the U.S. Marshall Task Force took a former Kingsford Heights clerk-treasurer into custody at her home Monday morning.

Patricia Arnett, 46, of Kingsford Heights, was arrested on charges of theft and official misconduct.

An official Indiana State Police investigation began in April of this year when the town attorney noticed a time sheet discrepancy. An ISP investigation by Detective Mike Bailey found that her position was an hourly-paid position and she reportedly submitted hours for payment that she did not work.

Arnett took office as the clerk-treasurer for the town of Kingsford Heights in January of 2016 and resigned in April of this year. She was taken into custody Monday morning without incident.

She is being held in the La Porte County Jail with a cash bond of $750.
