Widespread Rain Causes Flooding Concern

 

The Starke County Emergency Management Agency has issued a flood warning for the Kankakee River at Davis Route 30. The warning is in effect until Tuesday, May 9.

At 4 p.m. CT on Thursday, the flood stage was at 9.5 feet and steady. The flood stage is at 10 feet. Minor flooding is forecast.

The river will rise above flood stage early Friday morning and crest near 10.6 feet around midnight on Saturday. The water should fall below the flood stage during the overnight hours on Tuesday.

Motorists are urged to find another route of travel if the road to the destination has high water. Never allow children to play in or near flood waters.
