The Knox Community School Board members approved a small increase in breakfast and lunch prices for the 2017-2018 school year.
Interim Superintendent Jim Dermody and Food Services Director Sandra Landry discussed the federal guidelines with pricing and fiscal responsibility concerning cafeteria prices.
Breakfast and lunch will increase $.10 for elementary, middle and high school students. Breakfast will be $1.35 for all schools. Elementary students will pay $2.05 for lunch and middle and high school students will pay $2.30. Interim Superintendent Dermody said the corporation is in line with most of the corporations in terms of pricing.
Landry stated that salads will be offered to all students next year in approved packaging. She said that this is just another avenue of providing nutritious meals to students in all grades. Peanut butter and jelly Uncrustables will also be offered as they were an item that was highly requested this past school year. Other healthy options are being considered including vegetable kabobs.
