The first round of interviews was scheduled this week in the search for a new Knox Community School Superintendent. Those interviews were conducted in executive session meetings.
Knox Community School Board President Gary Dulin told WKVI News that 21 candidates applied for the position. Dulin is confident that a new superintendent will be in place by Aug. 1. A public hearing will be scheduled soon in order to gather comments on the superintendent’s contract and then the board’s recommendation for superintendent will be voted on after that hearing.
Jim Dermody is currently serving as the corporation’s interim superintendent. He was hired in late April. The appointment came after the school board voted to negotiate a buyout of A.J. Gappa’s superintendent contract.
