The WoodStarke festival will return for a fourth year this September. This year’s event will bring at least 15 bands, 10 to 12 artists, and a jiu-jitsu demonstration to Wythogan Park, according to event organizer Jacob Lippner. “I wasn’t planning on having it this year, and then a bunch of people convinced me to have it,” he told the Knox City Council Tuesday.
He said this year’s WoodStarke festival will take place Saturday, September 2, with a full day of music and entertainment. “Some bands only have two or three songs. Some others have been around for a while,” he explained. “But it’s all local, local-ish bands, independent bands, at least, a couple of my friends from other bands whenever I used to manage a band, a couple of out of town bands, but they’re all small, independent bands, nothing too, too big. Then we have a bunch of artists.”
One thing that still needed to be figured out was whether the event will be covered by the city’s insurance. Mayor Dennis Estok said he didn’t foresee a problem, but he requested a schedule of events, so he could check with the insurance provider.
