Winamac is once again attracting tourists looking to spend a few hours on the Tippecanoe River. Park Manager Dave DeLorenzo told the town’s park board last week that Cannonball Productions’ first visit of the year went well.
Busloads of people are brought to Winamac from Chicago for a day of tubing – and often drinking – on the Tippecanoe River. Complaints about intoxicated visitors and speeding bus drivers led the park board to put Cannonball Productions on probation, before allowing the company to use the town park again this year. More excursions are planned this month.
In other business last week, the Winamac Park Board appointed Diana Braun to its advisory council. She replaces Stan Czech, who resigned.
Additionally, the Kelly Miller Circus will return to the Winamac Town Park next month. The park board voted to let the circus use the park Friday, September 1 and Saturday, September 2.
