Only six houses are left that need to hook up to the new water lines in the Brown Circle project in Knox.
Water Superintendent Todd Gardner told the Knox Board of Public Works on Wednesday that everything should be done by the end of October. He said that firm costs will be presented at the next meeting on Oct. 25.
Gardner also told the board that the water tower in town and the tank in the industrial park need to be inspected and cleaned by a Deep cleaning crew. The 400,000 gallon tank in the industrial park does have damage from a bullet and that will need to be addressed.
Gardner said he is looking into costs but nothing is firm.
“We’re looking at about $5,600 to have both tanks cleaned and inspected,” explained Gardner. We’re coming up on that time frame when we should be doing it anyway and then we can go from there. I’m thinking the repairs are probably going to be somewhere between $8,000-$10,000.”
He wants to have the tanks drained and inspected and repaired properly. He said it doesn’t have to done this fall but it should be looked at as a spring project. He noted that the budget may not support the cost of repairs this year.
