Knox Mayor Announces Committee Meeting, Requests Volunteers

A committee meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4 at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center. During a Knox City Council meeting Tuesday evening, Mayor Dennis Estok reminded council members that the focus would be on some past and future projects.

Estok said the committee will discuss the financial results of this year’s fireworks display as well as address the upcoming Peppermint Parade. Estok said the parade applications have already been submitted for the event.

He added that community members are encouraged to get involved with special events that the city puts on throughout the year. He said anybody who wants to be on the committee or help out with any of the events are more than welcome to show up because they are in need of volunteers.

The Peppermint Parade was reinstated in 2016, after years of being out of commission. The revival was a success however, Estok commented on the event saying they received quite a few recommendations they weren’t able to utilize last year. This year, he said they’re hoping to incorporate more activities into the event.
