Winamac Town Council Schedules Work Session to Discuss Parks & Recreation

During the Winamac Town Council meeting last week, Clerk-Treasurer Melanie Berger approached the council about scheduling a special work session in order to discuss parks and recreation and the funding involved. The council members also voted on a few resolutions and ordinances that the clerk-treasurer presented.

The council members approved both resolutions presented, agreeing not to spend this year’s airport fees or 911 fees. Berger explained that a ‘resolution not to spend’ allows the council to save the money from those fees and carry it over into next years budget without having it impact the tax basis.

An ordinance creating a local income tax public safety fund was passed. Berger said in order to have more efficient monitoring, it was suggested that a fund separate from the general fund was established. Council members also passed an ordinance creating a fund for the $10,000 received from a grant through the Community Foundation of Pulaski County.

After working with council members to avoid any scheduling conflicts, the work session to discuss parks and recreation was set for Wednesday, October 4 at 5:30 p.m. EST in the Winamac Utilities Complex.
