Knox officials are asking residents to prepare for possible sewage backups, stemming from recent flooding. Mayor Dennis Estok says the current flood conditions have the city’s wastewater treatment plant running near capacity.
He adds that if conditions continue to worsen, the city may have to shut down the plant between now and Saturday. That may increase the possibility of sewer system backups. In the meantime, Estok asks residents to reduce their use of water and make sure basement and bathroom floor drains are plugged.
