Plea and Sentencing Hearing Set for Today for Jason Cooke

A Plymouth man accused of hitting a Knox resident in the head and taking money, prescription medication, an Indiana ID card, and multiple credit cards from him will be in Starke Circuit Court for a plea and sentencing hearing today. The victim, Sescoe Wireman, died following the alleged incident.

Defendant Jason Cooke will appear before Judge Kim Hall to answer to these allegations in an incident that occurred at a home in the 100 block of East 200 South in Knox on Oct. 7, 2015.

Cooke was initially charged with murder, robbery and aggravated battery in the case, but Prosecutor Nicholas Bourff said previously that the murder charge was dropped in February of 2017. He said the forensic pathologist determined that she could not connect the alleged battery with his death.

The plea and sentencing hearing begins at 11 a.m.
