About 200 chairs at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center in Knox will be sold.
Clerk-Treasurer Jeff Houston told the Knox Board of Public Works members this week that new chairs are coming as part of the renovation project.
In order to dispose of the old chairs, Houston said the board would have to designate Houston to use the most efficient manner possible to dispose of the chairs, to which the board unanimously approved in a motion.
According to the State Board of Accounts, the city can dispose of the chairs as long as it’s an individual piece of equipment that is worth $1,000, or more than one item with a total cost of less than $5,000.
Fifty chairs were delivered to the Starke County Justice Center for use in a conference room there. About 200 chairs remain and Houston would like to sell the chairs as an entire lot for $1,000.
