An alleged drunk driver attempted to elude police on foot, but he didn’t evade officers for long.
According to Knox City Police Chief Harold Smith, on Wednesday, April 25 shortly after midnight, Knox City Police Officer Seth Johnson observed a white Ford Ranger traveling north on Prettyman Street and noticed the driver did not use a turn signal when turning onto Danker Street. The driver, later identified as North Judson resident 32-year-old James Bogsha, then reportedly disregarded a stop sign at Danker Street and East Street. The officer attempted a traffic stop, but Bogsha did not stop.
Chief Smith stated that Bogsha turned off the truck’s headlights and continued to travel on Danker Street. The truck went past the entrance to Woods Apartments and through a yard, according to the report. Bogsha reportedly attempted to get to the apartment complex parking lot over an embankment in the yard and came to a stop. Smith said it was then when Bogsha swung open the door and took off on foot. Officer Johnson lost sight of Bogsha as he ran in a residential area. With the help of additional law enforcement officers, Bogsha was taken into custody without further incident.
Bogsha faces preliminary charges of operating vehicle while intoxicated refusal, operating a vehicle dangerously while intoxicated, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, resisting law enforcement, disorderly conduct, and possession of paraphernalia. His bond is set at $125,000.
