Knox City Police Chief Harold Smith reminded the Board of Public Works members last week that Knox residents should apply for golf cart permits at the Knox City Police Department. Those living outside of the city limits should obtain permits at the Starke County Justice Center.
A Knox golf cart permit sticker must be visibly seen on the driver’s side window of the golf cart in order to be legally operated on the city streets. Registration is required annually at a cost of $25 for a daytime permit. A day and night permit is $30 and is valid for one calendar year. At the time of registration, an officer from the Knox City Police Department will inspect the golf cart to ensure it meets requirements set forth by the city and the state.
The owner must show proof of insurance.

Chief Smith said he may coordinate a Saturday golf cart permitting day at the police department to complete requests.
