The Town of Winamac is asking residents to help clean up the Town Park. Last week, the town’s park board scheduled this year’s Town Park cleanup day for Saturday, April 28 from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
Park Manager Dave DeLorenzo invites anyone who’s available to volunteer some time. “There’s some things around the Community Building that need done,” he told the park board. “We have some bushes that the 4-H would like to remove, a tree that we’d like to be taken out of there, some landscaping in front of another building.”
DeLorenzo said volunteers could also help with some painting projects. “Weather-permitting, we might look at painting the tables in the pavilion. We have some playground equipment that could, weather-permitting, be repainted. And we always have sticks.”
During last week’s meeting, DeLorenzo also thanked several people who have already volunteered to help clean up the park, following the recent floods. He said the Winamac High School softball team helped clean around the softball diamonds, while the 4-H dog club helped clean around the dog park. Several town employees and individual volunteers have helped with cleanup, as well.
