The Medaryville Town Council members opened a public hearing on Wednesday night to gather comments on a grant application for a new water tower.
Clerk-Treasurer Judy Harwood said the Community Development Block Grant is worth $550,000 and the town would be required to match 20 percent of that amount if awarded. There was no public comment given during the hearing.
If the successfully obtained, a new tower would be constructed on newly purchased land across from the Medaryville Town Hall building. The new water tower would cost around $800,000 to construct.
