The Starke County Commissioners will receive an update from County Attorney Marty Lucas about the state statute governing loose dogs and dog bites. Commissioner Kathy Norem brought the idea of updating the county’s ordinance on loose dogs at a meeting in April after receiving several calls about unrestrained, vicious dogs.
The commissioners will also discuss INDOT’s response to golf cart signs on State Road 10 at Bass Lake. The commissioners previously discussed the misleading image on the signs posted by INDOT and their misinterpretation.
A decision will be made on the appropriation of CEDIT funds for fencing around the courthouse’s air conditioning units and tuckpointing behind the courthouse drainage pipes. An update on the elevator project at the courthouse is anticipated and the commissioners are expected to approve and sign the state annual report of the Congressional Township Fund.
Regular monthly reports will be provided by Starke County EMS Director Travis Clary and Clerk Mary Lynn Ritchie, Highway Superintendent Rik Ritzler and Starke County Economic Development Foundation Executive Director Larry Wickert. Recorder Lisa Minix will request the creation of an ordinance pertaining to bulk copy fees.
The commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. CT tonight in the meeting room in the Starke County Annex Building No. 1 at 53 E. Mound Street in Knox.
