The Winamac Eagles club will formally present a donation for playground equipment to the town’s park board tonight. Several community groups have offered to chip in, to help replace the equipment in the Town Park’s toddler playground.
The Winamac Park Board hopes to get additional funding by applying for a Land and Water Conservation Fund matching grant. The grant application would also seek funding to help with the cost of replacing the main restrooms in the Town Park. During tonight’s meeting, the park board is expected to get an update on the grant process and discuss construction bids for the restroom project.
In other business, the Winamac Park Board is expected to start formalizing some plans for upgrading the Town Park’s “swinging bridge” over the next five years. Residents have suggested adding a decorative lighting feature. A proposal to paint the concrete near the bridge will also be brought to the board tonight.
Other items on tonight’s park board agenda include the community pool project, the possible expansion of the town’s pickleball facilities, and a drinking fountain at the ball diamonds. Tonight’s Winamac Park Board meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. EDT at the Winamac Municipal Utilities Complex.
