Knox City Council Approves Amended General Obligation Bond Ordinance

Knox City Council members considered an amended General Obligation Bond Ordinance when they met last Tuesday.

As a reminder, the city of Knox will be purchasing a pumper truck for the Knox-Center Township Volunteer Fire Department to replace an aging model that is more than 30-years-old.

In order to finance the purchase, the city will be utilizing general obligation bonds. The bond issuance will be for a total of $650,000 to cover the cost of the fire truck, any add-ons or potential change orders and Umbaugh’s $50,000 bond counsel charge.

Mayor Dennis Estok explained that the document had to be adjusted to reflect the shift in the schedule since officials opted to start the process earlier than originally planned in order to take advantage of a discounted pre-pay price offered by the fire truck manufacturer Toyne.

Members voted unanimously to approve the amended ordinance with the updated language.
