Officers from the La Porte County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Sheriff’s Office Fatal Alcohol Crash Team, are investigating a two-vehicle accident that resulted in a fatality.
According to the preliminary investigation information released by the sheriff’s department, the accident occurred Saturday, June 16, around 8:34 a.m. at the intersection of County Road 350 N. and County Road 450 E. in La Porte County. One of the drivers, 89-year-old Donald Machler, of La Porte, died at the scene.
No other details of the accident were released as the investigation remains open. It is not known if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
