La Porte Man Sentenced on Child Pornography Charge

A La Porte man was recently sentenced on a charge of transporting child pornography. The hearing was before District Court Judge Robert L. Miller, Jr.

According to court documents, 25-year-old Christopher M. Bangs uploaded and downloaded images and videos depicting child pornography on the internet during a one-month time frame beginning in April of 2017. Bangs admitted that he possessed about 1,000 child pornography images and about 50 videos, some of which depicted sadistic images involving children. Some of those children were under the age of 12.

According to U.S. Attorney Thomas L Kirsch II, 25-year-old Christopher M. Bangs was sentenced to 88 months in federal prison followed by 5 years of supervised release. He was ordered pay $27,500 in restitution to six victims.

This case was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security with assistance from the Indiana State Police and the Saskatchewan, Canada Police Service.
