Local Fire Departments Work Together on Friday Night Water Rescue

When a man who was floating the river on Friday didn’t show up on time to a designated meet up area near the Yellow River Bridge at 500 East, people became concerned and called for help.

Fire Chief Kenny Pfost reports that the Knox-Center Township Fire Department received a call shortly before 10 p.m. and responded with their boat to assist with locating the adult male. The Hamlet and Washington Township Fire Departments were called for lighting.

Chief Pfost said moments after their boat was deployed in the river near the U.S. 35 bridge, the subject was located by civilians. He then floated down the river to their boat and was assisted to shore. No injuries were reported.
