Medaryville Resident Complains of Use of Golf Carts on County Road

A Medaryville resident asked the Pulaski County Commissioners last week to help curb the use of golf carts on County Road 1075 W. between 100 N. and 175 N.

Joan Donald said asked for signs on the road that depict the restricted use of the off-road vehicles, but the commissioners didn’t think that would be the best solution. She said unsupervised, unlicensed children are recklessly driving the golf carts.

County Attorney Kevin Tankersley said that signs wouldn’t prohibit the behavior. He added that it’s the law that golf carts can’t be operated on the road and a sign isn’t warranted. Donald argued that there should be some sort of reference to the law on a sign and there is a need for it. She mentioned that she wasn’t even sure of the speed limit since it’s not posted either.

Commission President Kenny Becker said he would talk to Sheriff Jeff Richwine about the issue and see what could be done from that conversation.
