Starke County Commissioners Discuss Computer Purchase for Prosecutor’s Office

The staff at the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office is looking to update technology in the office. During last week’s Starke County Commissioners meeting, Prosecutor Nicholas Bourff presented quotes to purchase new computers as the current devices are no longer working properly.

Bourff presented two quotes for six computers which would be used by the three prosecutors and the office staff. In his initial request before the Starke County Council members in June, he included computers for the child support office. He withdrew at portion of the request to the commissioners as he found there is money in the IV D fund to purchase computers for that department.

The money for the computers for the prosecutor’s office isn’t in the prosecutor’s budget, but the commissioners said the purchase can be made from the Cumulative Capital Development Fund as it’s a necessary purchase.

The total cost of the Dell computers, plus licenses, will be $7,522.31. It was the lower quote of the two provided. The commissioners unanimously approved the purchase.

Bourff will not need to go before the county council members next week as the commissioners agreed to make the purchase out of the Cumulative Capital Development Fund of which they have control.
