Winamac Park Board to Get Update on Grant Application, Pickleball Courts

Entrance to the Winamac Town Park

The Winamac Park Board will get an update tonight on its application for funding for various upgrades to the Town Park. It initially involved replacing the park’s main restrooms and getting new equipment for the toddler playground.

However, the board’s application for a Land and Water Conservation Fund matching grant has since grown to include money for a permanent cornhole court, new backboards for two basketball courts, equipment for a frisbee golf course, and a new park bench. Meanwhile, several community organizations are still working to cover the local share of the cost of the playground upgrades.

Also during tonight’s meeting, the Winamac Park Board will continue discussing the park’s pickleball facilities. Park Manager Dave DeLorenzo has been researching the potential cost of resurfacing the remaining tennis court and re-striping it for both tennis and pickleball.

Tonight’s Winamac Park Board meeting starts at 6:00 EDT at the Winamac Municipal Utility Complex.
