Hamlet Officials Continue Planning for Electronic Message Board

Work continues to install an electronic message board in front of the Hamlet Town Hall. Town Council President Dave Kesvormas has found a full-color, eight-and-a-half-by-three foot LED sign, for just under $2,900.

Town officials plan to mount the message board in an old sign frame that had been sitting near the Hamlet Golf Course. As of last week’s town council meeting, there was some confusion as to whether or not the golf course had already taken down the frame in preparation for the move.

Once that issue is resolved, Kesvormas said the next step will be to get a price on running electricity from the building. He also suggested having an extra outlet installed for the town’s Christmas decorations, while Engineer Lee Nagai recommended that the work include wiring for future decorative streetlights.

At that point, the town would proceed with ordering the actual message board.
