The Starke County Commissioners will enter into a contract negotiation soon with officials with the Starke County Economic Development Foundation.
County Attorney Marty Lucas said the details of the contract can’t be disclosed as they will be in active talks with both parties, but it will mainly address normal functions of a contract: services, the relationship between the county and the foundation, and compensation.
The commissioners voted last week to name Commissioner Kathy Norem as the lead negotiator for the county. She will meet with Executive Director Larry Wickert to sort out details. While the negotiations can take place in a closed session, the contract must be approved in a public meeting of the governing body.
Lucas was unsure of the timeline of events, but it will be noted on the public meeting agenda when the contract will be presented for approval.
