Winamac Park Board to Explore Fence Improvements at Town Park Ball Fields

The fencing surrounding some of the Winamac Town Park’s athletic fields may soon be getting an upgrade. “I love what they’ve done to the girls’ softball field, with what Francesville Drain Tile did on the top of that fence,” Park Board President Courtney Poor said during last week’s meeting. “I would like to try and I will take this upon myself as a project, to get in touch with some of the folks over there and see how much it would cost us to do the little league diamond and the other girls’ softball diamond in the same manner.”

The materials for the first field were donated, according to Park Manager Dave DeLorenzo, but cutting them to the correct size and getting them installed by the people at https://precisionfenceworks.com/atlanta-ga-fence/, took a bit of work. Board members agreed to let Poor look into the cost of making similar upgrades at the two other fields, while DeLorenzo offered to help take measurements. Poor said the change would not only improve the look of the ball fields, but it would also make them safer.

Also during last week’s meeting, the park board agreed to buy two more loads of dirt, to help with the ongoing restoration of the grass in the back of the park. Northern Indiana Power from the Past has been leading the effort with help from Jason Potthoff with ProscapeS Unlimited.
