Court Date Set for Rochester Woman Linked to Fulton County Bus Stop Accident

A court date has been set for the Rochester woman who faces multiple charges related to Tuesday morning’s bus stop accident in Fulton County.

According to a staff member at the Fulton County Jail, Alyssa Shepherd’s initial hearing date is set for Tuesday, November 13th at 8:30 a.m.

She faces three felony charges of reckless homicide and one misdemeanor charge of passing a school bus, when the arm signal device is extended, causing an injury.

Indiana State Police Peru Post Information Officer Sergeant Tony Slocum noted that Shepherd was initially released from the scene of Tuesday’s accident on State Road 25 because there wasn’t enough probable cause at the time to warrant an arrest.

Once enough viable information was gathered through an investigation and probable cause was found, ISP troopers received an arrest warrant through the Fulton County Superior Court.

Shepherd was served with the warrant shortly after 4 p.m. on Tuesday and was booked into the Fulton County Jail with a surety bond of $15,000. She was bailed out around 4:30 p.m., according to jail officials.

As previously reported, around 7:15 a.m. on October 30th, three siblings Xzavier and Mason Ingle and Alivia Stahl were reportedly struck and killed by Shepherd’s pick-up truck while they were attempting to board their school bus. Another student, Maverick Lowe was critically injured and airlifted to Parkview Health Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Sergeant Slocum shared a quote from Maverick’s parents through a media alert Wednesday afternoon.

In the quote, the Lowe’s thanked everyone for the prayers being made for their family, as well as the other families involved in Tuesday’s tragedy. They said Maverick is currently in stable condition and that they’re focused on his recovery. They also requested privacy as they heal together.

Slocum also shared a statement from officials at Parkview Health who noted that Maverick’s health information has been marked as confidential so no further information about his condition will be released at this time. Media representatives are asked not to contact the Lowe’s directly. Instead, inquiries can be directed to the Parkview Health Marketing and Communications Department.

Additional information about this matter will be provided as soon as it becomes available.
