The sentencing hearing for Edward Blackburn will be rescheduled.
Blackburn, 30, was found guilty by a jury after a seven-day trial in August in Starke Circuit Court on a charge of murder. Based on evidence presented during the trial, Blackburn shot Cord Colgrove to death in the face at a North Judson residence on March 3, 2017.
The sentencing hearing was to be held this morning in Starke Circuit Court, but the defense requested a continuance earlier this week in order to review the Pre-Sentence report and to make sure an out-of-state witness can be available to testify during the hearing.
The State objected to the continuance request, but the request was granted.
A date for the hearing has not yet been set.
