A probationary patrolman is now on duty after a decision by the Knox Board of Works members last week.
Knox City Police Chief Harold Smith recommended that the board members approve the hiring of Patrick (PJ) McKee to the department.
McKee was raised in Knox and graduated from Knox Community High School.
Smith said that he still needs to fill a patrolman spot within the department.
The Knox Board of Works members unanimously approved McKee as a probationary patrolman.
