Medaryville Town Council Looking to Overhaul Unsafe Building Ordinance

The Medaryville Town Council members will be reviewing the unsafe building ordinance to include possible amendments.

According to Clerk-Treasurer Judy Harwood, the council members are interested in having their own building inspector. The person hired into that position would be able to determine which buildings in Medaryville are safe or unsafe and advise council members on specific actions to take on identified properties. With that, if approved, the council would also need to figure in a salary for the position.

Harwood stressed that the council members did not take action on any amendments to the ordinance and will review the topic in future meetings.
