The man found guilty of killing a Starke County resident will be sentenced next week.
It was on March 3, 2017 when 30-year-old Edward Blackburn shot Cord Colgrove in the face causing his death outside a residence in rural North Judson, based on evidence provided during a seven-day trial in August. He was found guilty of murder after five hours of deliberation by the jurors seated for his trial.
A murder charge in the State of Indiana carries a sentence of 45 to 65 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections.
This sentencing hearing was to be held in October, but the defense requested a continuance in order to review the Pre-Sentence report and to make sure an out-of-state witness could be available to testify during the hearing.
Blackburn will learn his sentence on Friday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. CT in Starke Circuit Court.
