Restroom Vandalism Draws Concerns from Winamac Park Board Member

A Winamac Park Board member is voicing his frustration after someone apparently vandalized the new restrooms along the Winamac Parkway. “I went in there a few weeks ago to look and there was trash everywhere in there, and people went to the bathroom and plugged it up,” Chris Schramm told the rest of the park board last week. “I assume kids are doing that. I mean, it looked terrible.”

He said he didn’t understand why someone would want to do that to a brand new bathroom. “But they took whole rolls and stuffed them in there,” he added, “didn’t even unravel them, and just threw them in the toilet.”

Schramm went on to say that people shouldn’t do that sort of thing. “My wife and I stopped there and I’m going, ‘Gosh, these are brand new and somebody went in and did that?’ Come on!”

Schramm, who is also a detective with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, stressed that that sort of behavior won’t be tolerated. “If I ever catch you doing it, there’s gonna be heck to pay,” he said.

He also commended Park Manager Dave DeLorenzo for his efforts at maintaining the facility, noting that he had the mess cleaned up within a couple of days.
