Starke County Commissioners to Meet Tonight

The Starke County Commissioners will meet tonight where a new security measure will be in place.

A security officer will be present to check all who attend the meeting to ensure safety to all who attend the meeting. As previously reported, security is a concern of all government officials and Starke County officials want to include more safety measures during the meetings.

As part of the new protocol, the meeting room will not be open to the public until 5:45 p.m. CT at the Starke County Annex Building No. 1. More discussion on the annex and meeting room security is anticipated with Larry Keiser who is the head of courthouse security.

Edwin Buswell from K-IRPC will facilitate a public hearing set to gather comments on the county’s broadband grant. The commissioners will also go over what appointments will need to be filled on the various boards and commissions during tonight’s meeting.

Starke County EMS Director Travis Clary and Clerk Mary Lynn Ritchie and Starke County Highway Department Superintendent Rik Ritzler will give their regular reports to the commissioners.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. CT.
