The West Central School Board members considered resolutions last week that deal with budget items.
Superintendent Don Street said one resolution balances accounts as 2018 concludes. It allows transfers to be done so all accounts have a zero or positive balance at year’s end. It also allows the encumbering of funds from the 2018 accounts for use in 2019.
The second resolution allows the transfer of funds from the Education Fund to the Operations Fund on a monthly basis, which Street said is a new process.
Street explains, “The General Fund is going to an Education Fund and then our Transportation, Bus Replacement, as well as our Capital Projects, and some of our past General Fund accounts, those accounts that are not directly involved with students, will be part of the Operations Fund. In order to make that properly work, a dollar amount would have to be transferred every month from our Education Fund to our Operations Fund.”
The board passed both resolutions with a unanimous vote.
