A Winamac man was injured in a Wednesday morning crash on Interstate 80 at the 9.2 mile marker, just east of the Grant Street exit in Lake County.
An investigation by the Indiana State Police revealed that a red Ford Focus was struck by a 2005 Ford F150 and the impact pushed the Focus into the back of a semi tractor trailer that was stopped in traffic. The driver of Ford Focus, Winamac resident 22-year-old Wyatt Spence, was extricated from the vehicle by the Gary Fire Department. He was transported to Northlake Methodist Hospital in Gary with serious injuries. The driver of the Ford F150, 39-year-old Milton Harvey of Merrillville, was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The semi truck driver was not injured.
Alcohol may have been a factor in this crash. Toxicology tests are pending.
