A duplex in located in the Parkview area in Knox will be ordered for demolition.
Building Administrator Kenny Pfost told the Knox Board of Public Works members that the structure at 207-209 N. Roosevelt Road has fallen under the unsafe building statute. There are holes in the floor, broken windows, bad weather stripping, electrical issues, and doors need to be replaced.
The now-vacant building was apparently sold in a tax sale and the owner indicated that she was going to sell it to another individual last summer, but it didn’t happen. Pfost noted that he was told that a different sale was set to take place in December and he sent a notice of repair to both the owner and potential buyer with no communication of a schedule of repairs.
The board members agreed that the next step is to prepare an order for demolition. The owner will need to appear for a public hearing on the matter at the board’s next meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 23.
