The Knox Community School Board will meet tonight where officials from Schmidt and Associates will present information to the board members.
The company has proposed a facilities study for the corporation that proposes demolishing the older section of the elementary school and re-configuring the current middle school building into an “intermediate school” for grades three through six. The existing high school would house grades seven through 12, after getting a 50,000-square-foot addition.
At a school board meeting in December, Schmidt and Associates representatives updated the members on a public component in the process where 20 members of a task force will discuss concerns. One meeting occurred in December and another session will be held so the task force members can tour the facilities to better understand the current conditions and gather information from building administrators to see what future solutions can be found.
The information is available in the Knox Community Schools Masterplan blog available online. The link can be found here.
The school board members will also act on a resignation and retirement, consider bus bids and receive an update on the School Resource Officer.
The Knox Community School Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. CT tonight in the Administrative Office in the Palmer Wing of the Knox Elementary School.
