Pulaski County Emergency Medical Services is seeking bids for fuel and a new ambulance. Last week, the county commissioners gave EMS Director Brandon DeLorenzo permission to solicit bids for a gas-powered truck.
“We’re going to stick with gas for two reasons,” he explained. “The cutaway van chassis no longer offers the diesel, so we’d have to go to the type one, which has the truck front end. Those are considerably longer, and our building currently won’t house a vehicle like that. And plus, from what research I’ve done – I’ve gotten with the guys over at Ford – obviously, the gas is going to be a lot cheaper in maintenance and a lot easier to work on.”
County officials had previously considered renting or leasing an ambulance, but the commissioners noted that there’s enough money in the EMS budget to buy one outright. The commissioners also directed DeLorenzo to get bids for fuel prices.
