West Central Students to Take ILEARN Readiness Test Next Week

The West Central School Board members were informed last week that the ILEARN Readiness test will be Wednesday, Jan. 23.  This is to test the state’s ability to administer the real test which will be given in April.  Students in grades 3-5 and 6-8 will be taking the test.

ILEARN, or Learning Evaluation Assessment Readiness Network, replaces the ISTEP test and will be conducted during the last five or six weeks of the school year.  ILEARN is the updated assessment program to assess students in English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies. It is standards based and includes an adaptive component for the core subjects.

Students in grades 3-8 will be tested in English/Language Arts and Math.  In addition to English/Language Arts and Math, students in Grades 4 and 6 will have testing in Science while students in the 5th Grade will have additional testing in Social Studies.

With the change, the End of Course Assessment test is no longer a requirement, but each student will need to complete a graduation pathway component as a graduation requirement.
