Winamac Town Council members approved fire contracts for various townships when they met Monday night.
The Town of Winamac contracts fire services for six different townships. Clerk-Treasurer Melanie Berger said she has received contracts back from four out of the six trustees.
The contracts presented to council members remained the same as in past years with Tippecanoe Township paying $2,174.42 and Rich Grove Township paying $3,664.38. Additionally, Harrison Township kept an annual charge of $6,124.42 while Monroe Township will continue to pay $53,128.62 per year.
Members unanimously approved those contracts as presented.
Clerk-Treasurer Berger mentioned that she is still waiting on contracts from Franklin Township, which pays $9,283.92 per year and Jefferson Township which has an annual charge of $3,078.64.
She noted that townships aren’t required to make the whole payment all at once. Instead, town officials invoice the townships for half the contracted amount twice a year; once in July and once in December.
