Applications and Assistance for Knox’s Owner-Occupied Housing Grant Available Tonight

Knox residents are reminded that tonight’s the night to learn more about the Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Grant Program.

Tonight’s 6 o’clock meeting at the Nancy J. Dembowski Center will focus on this funding opportunity provided through the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority.

IHCDA officials report that this is a way to help residents address home conditions that, if otherwise left unattended, would create an issue with the integrity of the home or become a detriment to the residents’ quality of life.

Applications for the program will only be available during this meeting.

Mayor Dennis Estok noted that they’re doing it this way so interested individuals will have the opportunity to ask questions and receive assistance with filling out the necessary documentation on site.

Though the funds come from the IHCDA, the city’s grant administrator for this program is Neighborhood Development Associates.

A representative from that organization, as well as an official from the Area Five Agency on Aging and Community Services will be in attendance tonight.

If you feel that you could benefit from this program, please attend in order to see if you qualify for financial assistance.  In addition to there being certain eligibility requirements, there are also particular qualifiers for what types of rehabilitation work is permitted.

The Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center is located at 55 E. Lake Street in Knox. If you have any questions prior to tonight’s meeting, contact the Mayor’s Office at 574-772-4553.
