Culver EMS Still Short Paramedics

Culver EMS Director Kathy Hart is still short paramedics in her department.

Hart told the Culver Town Council that there are quite a few open positions in the department and only two applications have been received in her office.

She said surrounding departments are utilizing people for overtime so they’re not available to work at the Culver department.  She mentioned that all EMS Departments have trouble finding paramedics and Culver is not immune to that.

The Culver Town Council members approved an ordinance amendment that increases the hourly wage for a new advanced paramedic to a range from $10.00 to $15.50 an hour in 2017.  With wage increases, it is higher now.

The council members approved Hart’s request to hire paramedics.
