Several Sentenced on Drug Charges in Starke Circuit Court

Several defendants were sentenced in court in Starke County last week.

In Magistrate Jeanene Calabrese’s court, Joshua Hopper, pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the State to a charge of possession of methamphetamine as a Level 4 felony.  The agreement called for Hopper to serve nine years in the Department of Corrections with two years suspended.  The two suspended years would be served on probation. 

Tiffany Northrop, 31, of North Judson, pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the state to a Level 4 Felony charge of dealing in methamphetamine for which she will serve six years in the Indiana Department of Correction with three years suspended to be served on probation.  She also pleaded guilty to a Level 6 Felony charge of possession of methamphetamine for which she will serve two years in the DOC with no part of that sentence suspended.  The sentences will be served consecutively with purposeful incarceration for rehabilitation.   

Steven Sandoval, 26, of Walkerton, pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the State to a charge of dealing in methamphetamine as a Level 5 felony.  He admitted to Starke Circuit Court Judge Kim Hall that on Jan. 30, 2018, he sold $50 worth of methamphetamine to an undercover officer.  He was sentenced to six years in the Indiana Department of Corrections with all of the sentence suspended to be served on home detention. 

Michael Campbell, 35, of Knox pleaded guilty to a Level 5 Felony charge of possession of methamphetamine in a plea agreement with the State.  He told Judge Kim Hall that a search warrant was executed at his home in July of 2018 where meth was found in his possession.  He was sentenced per the terms of that agreement to four years in the Indiana Department of Corrections with two years suspended to be served on home detention. 

Matthew Henning, 25, of North Judson pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the State to a Level 6 Felony charge of possession of a syringe.  He admitted to Judge Hall that the syringe was found in his vehicle during a traffic stop in September of last year.  He was sentenced to 12 months in the Starke County Justice Center with all of the time suspended to be served on probation.
