Eastern Pulaski School Board Hires Teacher, Secretary, Volleyball Coach

Two Winamac High School graduates, who also happen to be sisters, were hired for open positions at the school Monday. The Eastern Pulaski School Board hired Cara Dulin to teach Family and Consumer Science at the middle and high schools, according to Superintendent Dan Foster.

“She’s currently teaching the alternative education at the junior high at Pioneer, and last year, she did a maternity leave for Mrs. White, who is one of the Family and Consumer Science teachers,” Foster explains. “So she did a very nice job there, and had subbed a little bit in some other areas, too, and she has recently passed her Family and Consumer Science license test.”

Meanwhile, Dulin’s sister, Christin Shell, was appointed as the new Winamac High School secretary. “She currently works at First Federal Savings Bank here in town, and we had right at 20 applications for that position,” Foster says. “I was kind of surprised by that. So we screened them down and got to five candidates, and the committee interviewed five people, and Christin did an outstanding job. And looking forward to her starting.”

Foster says the school board also hired Heather Kasten as the new head varsity volleyball coach, taking over from Cathy DeFries. “Heather has a lot of experience, served the Cass County area,” Foster explains. “She’s been a coach at Caston and Pioneer, and she’s also been a coach at the Cass County Volleyball Club. So we appreciate her coming on board with us.” Kasten lives in Winamac and teaches at Columbia Elementary School in Logansport.

Foster says Tammy Biros was reappointed as assistant volleyball coach, and Cullen Ulerick was hired as an assistant football coach.
