Knox BOW Receives Update about Order to Repair at Republican Headquarters

Knox Board of Works members received an update about the order to repair issued at the Starke County Republican Headquarters when members met last week.

Director of Building and Code Compliance Kenny Pfost said he was able to discuss the needed repairs with the individual who is responsible for the building which is located at 13 N. Main Street.

Pfost said, “The last owner received their notice and the deadline will be 120 days from May 3rd for that project to be completed.”

Mayor Dennis Estok asked about the extended amount of time that was allotted. Pfost said that much time will be necessary to address all the repairs that are needed.

He explained, “I gave them a little bit more time because of the extent of what they expressed to me about what they’re wanting to do with taking the whole back of the building off basically and I know that chimney is going to be an in-depth project to get that fixed.”

When Director Pfost discussed the building during the BOW’s April meeting, he mentioned that there is also some water damage and rotting framework on the structure that will need to be addressed as a part of the order.
